Edibles is a broad, informal term for ready-to-eat products, most often chocolates, gummies, baked goods and drinks, that are made with an added functional or specialty ingredient. The word simply means "something you eat," but in retail it has come to describe snackable foods that carry an extra ingredient beyond flavor.
A word with many meanings
Because "edibles" is used across very different product categories, it tells you almost nothing on its own. Two items both called edibles can have completely different ingredients, rules and labeling. The only reliable way to know what you are buying is to read the product name, description and ingredient list.
Common edible formats
- Chocolate: bars and truffles, where the ingredient is blended into the chocolate before molding. See Mushroom Chocolate.
- Gummies: chewy candies set with gelatin or pectin. See Mushroom Gummies.
- Drinks and shots: small bottles that use liquid extracts. See Liquid Mushroom Shot.
- Baked goods and snacks: cookies, bars and bites.
How Polkadot fits in
Polkadot products are gourmet confections made with functional mushroom blends: Belgian chocolate bars, vegan gummies, chocolate truffles and mushroom shots. On this site we describe them by format and flavor rather than with the catch-all word "edibles," so you always know exactly what each item is. You can compare the formats in our bars vs gummies vs shots guide.
Smart shopping tips
- Read the full product description, not just the category label.
- Check that packaging is sealed, clearly printed and lists ingredients.
- Note allergens such as milk, nuts, soy and wheat.
- Buy from a seller with clear policies and real contact details.
- Store products out of reach of children and pets, as you would any confection.
